Artificial Cornea May Be A Hopeful Alternative For Cornea Replacement
New biosynthetic corneas - that act as a scaffolding for new cells to integrate and act more like natural cornea - have been given to 10 Swedish patients and are showing growth of the patient’s natural corneal, blood vessel, and nerve cells within the new material. Like plastic cornea, rejection by the body is not an issue.
